Frequently Asked Questions

What if my child struggles to talk about feelings?

Many children and young people find it difficult to talk directly about emotions, especially when they are overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure how to explain what they are experiencing.

Sessions do not rely solely on talking. Some children engage more comfortably through creativity, games, cards, drawing, movement, or parallel activities. The focus is on helping them feel comfortable enough to engage in a way that feels manageable for them.

Do you work online or face-to-face?

Yes, I offer both face-to-face counselling in Ross-on-Wye and online counselling sessions.

Some children, young people, and adults prefer the comfort and familiarity of being at home, whilst others engage better within the counselling room. We can explore together what may feel most supportive.

Do you support neurodivergent children and young people?
  1. Yes. I work with neurodivergent children and young people, including those with ADHD, autism, PDA, sensory differences, emotional regulation difficulties, and school-based anxiety.

I understand that traditional talking therapy does not work for everyone, so I adapt sessions to the individual child or young person. This may include creative approaches, practical tools, movement, humour, games, or simply taking time to build trust and connection at their pace.
