child-counselling-ross-on-wye

When a child is struggling, it can be hard for them to find the words to explain how they feel. As a provider of child counselling in Ross-on-Wye, I offer a calm and understanding space where children can explore their emotions, feel heard, and build confidence in their own way.

My approach is person-centred, meaning I believe every child has the potential to grow and heal when they feel truly understood. I don’t tell children what to do or how to feel — instead, I listen, notice, and work at their pace, offering kindness, consistency, and acceptance.

Because every child is unique, I use an integrative and creative counselling approach for children. This means I adapt the way I work to meet each child’s individual needs. Some children like to talk, while others prefer to express themselves through play, drawing, or movement. I follow their lead and use creative tools that suit their age, personality, and comfort level.

I also understand that some children experience the world differently because of neurodiversity, such as autism, ADHD, or sensory differences. I take time to get to know what helps each child feel safe and settled in the counselling space. This might include using visuals, having sensory items available, allowing more movement, or keeping the environment calm and predictable.

Every counselling relationship is unique. My aim is always to create a trusting and accepting environment where a child can explore their thoughts and feelings without pressure or judgement.

If you’re wondering how to support your child’s mental health, or you’re looking for a Ross-on-Wye child therapist, I offer gentle and flexible support through child counselling in Ross-on-Wye. You’re welcome to get in touch for an informal chat about how counselling might help your child.
